The School of Architecture, Design and Urbanism (EMADU) of the Euromed University of Fez is kicking off the 1st edition of the ArtiSign Academic Biennial. This event will take place in the heart of the medina of Fez, a UNESCO World Heritage site, from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 June, mainly on the historical site of Lalla Yedouna.

The ArtiSign Academic Biennial is an academic, inclusive, eclectic and international event involving artisans, designers, students, academics and professionals of international renown, with the aim of creating a new synergy with a holistic vision combining the world of Crafts with that of Design while celebrating the diversity of learning models.

This federative event is part of the Royal vision to enhance the tangible and intangible heritage of the city of Fez, to develop our ancestral know-how by making it one of our socio-economic levers and to bring the academic world closer to the world of handicrafts in order to innovate and internationalize the Moroccan knowledge and know-how and the made in Morocco.

To do this, a tripartite agreement initiated by the Wilaya of Fez-Meknes was signed between the UEMF, ADER-Fez and the Chamber of Crafts Fez-Meknes as part of the program of requalification and rehabilitation of the Medina of Fez to promote knowledge and know-how as well as the enhancement of the Moroccan craft heritage and the revitalization of traditional trades.

This biennial event is also the result of the participation and close collaboration of the craftsmen of the Federation of Crafts of Lalla Yeddouna.

In preparation for more than a year, the academic biennial ArtiSign knows the involvement of the privileged partners of EMADU: the DIA-UNIFI School of Architecture and Design of Florence, the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs de Paris-ENSAD-, the Portuguese University of Evora, the Aga Khan Trust for Culture of Switzerland, the Polish Academy of Design Sztukai W Szczecinie, the Kan Ya Makan Association, the CFQMA Centre de Formation et de Qualification aux Métiers de l'Artisanat de Fès, the Institut Français de Fès, the Fédération des artisans de Lalla Yeddouna and internationally renowned designers, among others
