9th Ministerial Conference "Environment for Europe": Prof. Maha Gmira presents UEMF's vision and commitment to the achievement of the SDGs

Prof. Maha Gmira presented the vision of UEMF and its deep commitment to the achievement of the MDGs and to expand the new Mediterranean Action Plan on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) to 2030 at the 9th Ministerial Conference "Environment for Europe". This conference addressed two themes: "The green economy in a pan-European region: working on sustainable infrastructure" and "Applying the principles of the circular economy to sustainable tourism". A ministerial declaration was also adopted on this occasion.


Organized by the Republic of Cyprus with the support of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), this event was an opportunity to raise the agenda of the Mediterranean Strategy for Education for Sustainable Development, according to the UfM guidelines and the Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development (MSSD) (2016-2025) of the Barcelona Convention.


To improve the conditions for the adequate implementation of the MSSD.
To propose a set of joint programs/projects of institutional/non-thematic nature.
To highlight the priority thematic issues for the regional programs.
To propose progress and monitoring indicators.
