After its participation in the first African Conference on Health Risk Reduction, UEMF is present at the second edition of this event held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI from September 27 to 29 in Marrakech.
This significant international meeting, organized under the theme "Health in Africa: Water, Environment, and Food Security," brought together several African and international leaders, including ministers, ambassadors, scientists, and researchers from over 80 countries worldwide to host a three-day program. Professor Mostapha BOUSMINA, the President of Euromed University, participated in the second panel addressing the theme of "Food Security in Africa and the World: Risk Reduction Strategies."
During his speech, Prof. BOUSMINA emphasized the importance of harnessing the economic wealth of the vast continent and establishing a common policy at the continental level through South-South collaboration. This would not only ensure overall food security but also food sovereignty, enabling the development of food production capacity based on scientific research while respecting the social specificity of African countries and the diversity of their products.
Participants in this event aspired to adopt new strategies to reduce health risks through improving prevention systems, changing consumption patterns, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Plenary sessions, roundtable discussions, workshops, and various themes were addressed during this event, including "Natural Disasters: Risk Reduction and Emergency Management," "Food Security in Africa and the World: Risk Reduction Strategies," "Water, Environment, and Food Security: African Vision 2063," "Risk Reduction and Ecosystems of Tomorrow: The African Equation and South-South Cooperation," and "Health and Environment: Air Quality and Climate Change."
This second edition of the African Conference also provided an opportunity for Euromed University of Fes to not only achieve its main objective but also to present the new components of the Health Hub (Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dental Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Nursing and Health Technical Sciences, School of Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology), as well as the other components of the university and their diverse training offerings to participants and visitors.
