Doctoral fellowship in insulin signaling and nutrient sensing pathways in C. elegans
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our research team for an exciting project aimed at uncovering the molecular mechanisms by which TORC1 and S6K regulate insulin signaling. The project will focus on using Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism, employing advanced molecular biology techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, confocal microscopy, and proteomic analysis to investigate nutrient sensing and insulin secretion pathways.
The successful candidate will explore how TORC1 and S6K proteins regulate insulin-like protein secretion in response to nutrient changes. This work has implications for better understanding diabetes, a critical public health issue worldwide.
The ideal candidate for this project should have:
- A Master's or Engineering degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in molecular biology, biochemistry, and proteomics techniques.
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience with gene editing (CRISPR/Cas9) and familiarity with C. elegans, including genetic manipulation, creation of mutant strains, and conducting phenotypic analyses, is a plus.
- Proficiency in English
