New Multifunctional Fibrous Membranes with Bioactive Nanoparticles and Therapeutic Drugs for Maxillofacial Application

Descriptif du sujet

This research project aims to create multifunctional electrospun composite materials (membrane) constituting polymer blends, bioactive glass nanoparticles (BG), and therapeutic molecules for maxillofacial applications. The composite materials will contain biopolymers, BG doped with essential elements for enhanced strength and flexibility, and therapeutic molecules for more potent pharmacological benefits. By creating an appropriate scaffold for bone regeneration, improving wound healing, and lowering the risk of infections, the development of multifunctional bioresorbable composite materials containing bioactive and therapeutic components has the potential to get beyond these restrictions.

The proposed membrane-targeted maxillofacial application will create an innovative and new integrated engineering-science-based technology that will significantly transform the economic markets in tissue engineering/regenerative medicine. This will lead to orthopedic and dental implants of superior performance and a drastic reduction of surgical operations, thereby radically reducing the economic burden on Moroccan health services.
